About
Hi. I'm the construction nerd.
I help Hawaiʻi homeowners cut through construction complexity with practical, experience-based advice.

Meet Cory
There's a reason I like the details.
I'm a general contractor working in Hawaiʻi, and I spend my days dealing with the real decisions behind construction projects: what will work, what won't, what might cost more than expected, and how one trade's work affects another.
Construction Nerd is built around a simple idea: homeowners deserve straightforward, useful advice before making expensive commitments—or when a project throws them a curveball.
My approach is conversational, practical, and detail-oriented. I don't expect you to speak construction. That's my job.
The local advantage
Good advice includes knowing when to call a specialist.
Through my work on Hawaiʻi Island, I've developed a network of specialty contractors with deep experience in their respective trades. When a consultation involves a specialized system or technical question, I can seek their input where appropriate and available, rather than offering unwarranted certainty.
I'll be clear about which observations are mine, when a specialist's expertise is needed, and whether additional consultation would involve a separate scope or cost.
Independent decisions, clear disclosures
Advice first. Construction only by separate agreement.
Construction Nerd provides consulting and advisory services. I'm also associated with Adept Builders, a separate construction contracting business. If a project may be a fit for Adept Builders, I'll disclose that relationship so you can make an informed choice. You're never obligated to hire a particular contractor to use Construction Nerd.
When a question requires engineering, architecture, legal review, a specialist inspection, or licensed construction services, I'll explain that rather than pretend a consultation can replace those professionals.
